Behind a great gray wall, in a time and place far from what we believe to be true, a little gray girl lived in a small gray village. The little gray girl's name was Roloc. During this era, every day was gray. In fact, every year was a gray year and the truth is, no one remembered a time when it was different. That is, until Roloc leaned out of her window and breathed the clean, warm morning. "This is too fine a day for mundane work," she proclaimed. "A day like today calls for a quest. I shall find the long-lost treasure and return it to my village." She grabbed an old treasure map, filled her rucksack full of ripe gray apples, and left the great-walled village through its one gray gate. It was a short merry stroll until Roloc took one step inside the deep woods. Her next step was a bit more tentative. "Oh, my sakes, it's dark in here. I can't even see the gatekeeper any more." Off to her right she heard a rumbly, grumbly, ghostly, growly noise. Straight up into the air she sprang and scratched her hand on a thorny bush on the way back down. "Darn, that hurts," she whined. "I guess this journey brings pain a well a treasure." A mythical journey, a little girl hero, and valiant deeds fill this book.

THE LAST GOOSE CONCERT

Although she's been a little bit naughty, a young girl named Freya is allowed to dress in her finest clothes and attend the yearly goose concert with her mother. The weather, however, wreaks havoc on their plans and Freya is sent off alone to deliver the much needed supplies. Freya has never paid attention to the route before and alternates between confidence and nervousness as she pulls the heavy cart to Goosetown. She makes some bad decisions and meets helpful animals along the way. Although she is much too young to bear this burden, she never gives up her heroic task and with the help of her best goose-friend, they save Goosetown. At the end of her journey home, she finds Momma waiting with a big hug, hot apple cider and a roaring fire. A mythical journey, a little girl hero, bad decisions, and heroic deeds. Jaki Fey understands the daily fears children face and the heroic deeds they perform. WOLF IN MY POCKET

Children of all ages (8-88) will enjoy this gothic adventure about a good little girl named Anka. She lives in a village, but no one likes her. In fact, the villagers call her "naughty" and "uppity" and Anka feels like she doesn't really fit in. The day finally dawns when Anka breaks one too many rules. The villagers say, "Enough!" and she is cast from the village and the gate is slammed is shut behind her. Afraid and alone, little Anka looks around and sees no one at all. There is only one path. It leads into the forest, which is deep and dark. With no where else to go, she takes one step and her journeys begins. This modern day, old-fashioned fairytale is a quest of redemption taken by one little girl hero.

MODERN OLD-FASHION FAIRYTALES - because archetypal stories and dipping into the collective unconscious is still needed today

One of Jaki Fey's favorite quotes is a paraphrase of a G.K. Chesterton idea, “Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be overcome.”
